Thank for ur reply.
It would be a great help if u give a simple answer to my long pending question. how to balance the life means being doing spiritual practices along with enjoying the worldly things like drinking , eating non-veg foods, sexual funs , outing , going pubs . i mean not to totally involved in these worldly matters but i always feel that i cant avoid these things totally, so i make it to minimum. but i keep them going just not to cutoff from my society and friends.
So pls give some suggestion how to involve in these things ,but not attached to these things for higher living. if u will say to stop these things now, it will very difficult to do this now.
I understand you are looking for an approval from my side to continue with what you yourself feel contrary to your inner peace and spiritual growth… If you would have really been enjoying and feeling fulfilled, contented in what you have to essentially do (although you always have a choice Not to) in the name of socializing and keeping pace with time, you would not seek any alternative. Or will you?
Balancing life has another aspect.. a deeper one than meets the eyes. It is not about ‘the balancing act’ at all.. it is about feeling balanced and contented from within. It is about taking responsibility of your actions and it is about having a vision. It is about having a purpose in this journey called life. And remember not everyone is ripe enough to take on the journey..not everyone has to become spiritual or concerned with inner universe more than outer. It is a choice.. which will always be yours.
Before I answer your question, I want you to ask a few questions to yourself and if possible share your answers with me-
1. Why do you think there is more to life than eating, drinking, engaging in casual sex, making merry? What is the proof there is any higher life at all?
2. If you are actually doing it all.. what could be the reason for not feeling completely satisfied?
3. If you are not feeling satisfied.. wouldn’t it be better to engage more in what you do? (like if one glass of water doesn’t quench your thirst.. its logical to have two or even three) – If you think this is not correct approach then tell me how will you handle it?
4. If things you are engaged in currently are not giving you enough kick.. why not try some other alternatives? (Contemplate on choices – use of drugs, having more variety in your sexual partners, taking larger quantities of liquors and so on..) If you feel these are not the choices – then what is the reason?
5. Finally – do you feel motivated by and respect yourself for what you are doing as of now?
Beloved, I am not here to question your choices. You are driven by your youthful energies and it is very much natural to feel attracted to all that which you do now. Also don’t be carried away by my provocations to really strain yourself in thinking about these questions.. i know you have some really interesting engaging activities to get in to rather than these. I will definitely give you a simple, understandable, implementable solution to your problems.. Mind you, this is not about making you spiritual anyways.. it is about making you more responsible in exercising your choices. Become responsible and that will open many doors for your outer and inner growth – spirituality would be one of them.
The solution to your problem lies in your knowledge & awareness about yourself and possibilities which you carry with yourself. I am sure you would be wanting to THE BEST, world-class in whatever you do. Right? So write down your ambition clearly on the peace of paper – Make a poster out of it. Sign this declaration & fix it on the wall where everyone can see it. Also fix a large blank paper beside it. In fact I would like this declaration of yours to be clearly communicated to everyone in your circle. I am sure no one would really object to you telling your personal ambition. Suppose you want to become the best in class engineer, artist, athlete, software professional, DJ, Dancer, Manager or whatsoever.. tell it to everyone in your circles.
Now the real challenge starts here – Whenever you engage in an activity which makes you feel different (It can be exciting, depressing, overwhelming, waste of time, exhausted, guilty, cheerful) go back to the blank paper – And try to link that activity with your Goal. If you feel that particular activity is helping you in achieving your long term Goal or not. Just write it there.. you don’t have to actually STOP yourself from doing that but at least you will have some choices emerging out of this exercise. For example you just came back from a 4 Hours long drink & dance party – reach out to that white paper (which is stuck beside the “Goal of Life poster”) and write down your thoughts. You can be justifying it, adoring what you did.. may not be feeling good about it.. whatsoever it is. Just write. After 60 days (almost 1/10th of two years productive career making time) take that piece of paper and correlate it with your Goal. If you feel some changes are required in your behaviour, your habits, your attitude towards things, activities, people you need to change or else you are perfectly steering towards your Goal.
I know such exercises sound like waste of time.. but many have benefited from it and this is essential part of our programme for Youth. Being spiritual is about taking complete responsibility of your actions. So when fruits of your actions in NOW ripe NEVER blame anyone.. not even circumstances for that. It is YOU who is responsible and creator of your life.
If you feel such a long reply was not needed for me to simply ignore your basic question then think again. Its not the final thought what matters what is more important is the process of reaching to that. That’s the reason teachers give marks on steps .. not on the final answer.
Just last suggestion – Don’t stop anything.. Just Party Harder tonight to wash away the boredom which reading this long reply has created:)
Take good care of yourself.. You are the hope of tomorrow.
Remember – Your dreams are more important for they indicate what you CAN become, So.. take good care of your dreams before trying to be spiritual.
Sending love and light your way..
