AD, How can I listen to God’s voice? – Shashi
Shashi, The ways god speaks with us are incredible…wonderful ways. We need to learn the language in which he speaks to us. He has created us and the world around. There is a purpose in every creation.. There is hidden meaning to every event. Are we conscious enough to take our lessons? Let’s try!
Look at the stream of water, a river. Have you ever wondered what is so beautiful about a river? It has closest resemblance with the life. It’s Continuity, flow, ever new and great energy – look at it and you can see it has a goal. The goal is to reach the ocean. Stop for a minute and find an answer to the question- “What is my goal?”
A river reaches the ocean because it is not obsessed with the path. It changes its course gradually and gracefully if it finds difficulty in overcoming something. It knows how to let go. It doesn’t struggle to hold on to its previous path. It knows no principles and bookish knowledge but only thirst which guides her. Would you still cling to your expectations, your own chosen ways to reach the goal?
Another great learning to take from God’s creation is acceptance. River is always welcoming. It accepts drainage, it accepts dirt and with same zeal it accepts any stream of water. It doesn’t choose. It doesn’t discriminate. It never rejects. Can we be like this?
River cleans up its own water while it flows. It continuously cleans its own impurities. Its water gets cleaner as it travels farther more towards its goal. By cleaning its water it leaves impurities behind and the magical touch of a river converts these impurities in the fertile lands along the line of flow. Do we see a point here?
Rivers may even flow totally opposite to their goal but something important can be seen here. It is the slope which guides its flow not the direction. Can we find such two things in our thoughts? Try! What it could be? I have seen rivers flowing totally opposite to the direction of the ocean but for sure its aim is clear. Its guidance is the slope.
A river is egoless. You can build dams to stop its flow and stop it from reaching the ocean but it never takes offence in it. If it is held it still works for the benefit of others. It will reach the barren lands to convert them into green pastures.
Its spirit will never die. It will penetrate the finest of channels in the roots. It will reach the leaves. It will vaporize from there and the river will become a cloud yet again. The river comes back to the earth yet again searching for the ultimate destination.
The ocean will absorb it back. Probably it will rest there for sometime and if needed may again be sent out to the sky to come back again.
Where are we now? What is our guiding force? What is our destination? Are we able to convert the dirt and bad things given to us into good? Do we show the same spirit? Are we obsessed with the path? The path may be a Guru, a religion or a faith or we will continue to move wherever our thirst for peace and divinity takes us.
Lets learn to flow.. when we acquire that state of flowing, in that meditative awareness we begin to move closer to Him.. we start understanding his messages very clearly.. there is no other way.
