AD, Though I’m myself a vegetarian, still I would like to bring some argumentative points regarding vegetartanism, put forward by some minor communities. Please do comment.
Vegetarianism is in vogue today,so people speak in favour of it.Those who brag about it forget that they themselves are not a pure vegetarian. When you drink water, eat curd or even when you breathe in air you are taking in lot of micro-organisms.Can anyone come forward and claim to be a real pure vegetarian.
I am confused. Can you please throw light on this point? – Manju
Manju, before I answer your question I must tell you that this answer is for you and not for those who are arguing with you. You can have your own answer for them because borrowed answers fail to convince the listeners. (laughs) For those are still not able to experience the benefits of vegetarianism I have a short incident to tell.
A guy walks into the doctor’s office and says, “Doctor, you’ve got to help me. I pass gas HUNDREDS of times a day.”
He tells this doctor that it’s silent and odorless. Then he says, “Doctor, you won’t believe this but I’ve passed gas ten times while we’ve been talking.”
So the doctor gives him some pills, goes close to his ears and says “Here, take two of these every day and come see me in two weeks.”
The guy comes back in one week complaining, “Doctor, what’s in these pills? I still have the gas, it’s still silent, but now it smells absolutely TERRIBLE!”
The doctor says, “Well that takes care of your sinus problem, now let’s work on your hearing.”
People have become numb. They are unable to feel the subtler vibrations. These are the people who prefer loud music, kicking bevarage, chilled drinks, oven hot sizzlers, dazzling clothings, glimmering jewellery, strong deodorants, pungant perfumes, sleeping pills, Viagra and dotted condoms. It is their need because they have lost their sensitivity. They are unable to feel subtler vibrations in their body and around. So think twice before you try to make a blind man understand about how an elephant looks. Not because it is not a noble idea to educate him only because you may forget that he can not see but only touch and feel. And unfortunately he will never be able to feel the elephant as a whole and you will end us feeling disappointed and miserable.
The whole point of choosing to answer a question on food habits is to make you aware of the fact that certain things affect your psyche, your energies and thus all these are important in your spiritual ascension. I would once again like to emphasize – Without having a rock solid reason of elevating level of consciousness and purposeful purification of energies discussing about any food habit (howsomuch we may debate on its techincal nomenclature like vegetarian, lacto-vegetarian, lacto-ovo-vegetarian, non-vegetarian, in-vitro-meat-vegetarians and so on) is just a waste of time and perennial useless chatter.
Vegetarianism in Indian context is not a mania about feeding on vegetables and plant produce only. It is a way of life where a man is driven by principles inflicting least pain and exploitation to others while still deriving maximum benefit to reach a stage where from we can realize self. Here benefit is not in terms of calories but the purity of body, energy and thoughts. This benefit is to be obtained so that your dormant energy coil of Kundalini is awakened making you able to experience the world beyond your physical senses.
The people who hover around the definition based arguement of Vegetarianism are those who do not have any goal of entering the universe within. Like the poor chap who thought his farting for harmless these people are otherwise devoid of ability to sense the energies associated with the food. It takes time and effort to develop the sensitivity before we put an end to the arguements like ‘ Whether milk is veg diet? Whether Yogurt’s bacteria will not be non-veg? Whether honey should be consumed or not (after all it is also animal product)? and so on.. The answer to all such people is – First activate your numb senses and once you are able to sense the energies in the food or at least can sense the difference in the level of consciousness after consuming a particular food or else there is no gain. I would prefer them to win the Group Discussion and take away the first prize for proving that honey is a non-vegatarian animal product and still consume it for I know it opens up blocked and choked energy blocks.
Even certain animal produces are also found have healing, spiritually energizing, balancing and calming effects on human mind-body complex. Honey, milk and such other things fall in this category. If someone is sincerily concerned about one’s innner growth and self about what helps and what does not will be heightened and you shall be able to choose wisely on what you should consume and how it shapes your energy body.
In conext of Sadhna we insist on purity of Aahara, Vihaar and Vichar. The Aahaar i.e. Food which is eaten (should have bare minimum or only unavoidable nagative karmic garbage), Vihaara has largest domain. It has sights, cleanliness, action, speech, sounds you hear (music comes in this category), smell ( read – aroma therapy), energy fields you expose yourself to (Read – Pligrimage and energy healing by Master) – these all are concurrently shaping you in present moment.
I don’t believe in imposing the vegetarianism but rejuvenating the senses and increasing the sensitivity so that you can judge it yourself what is good for you. I don’t deny the fact that at a certain juncture in your journey even meat can be good but that you would know only after you have perfected your practices.
On the lighter side – All non vegetarians may not be terrorists but all terrorists are non-vegetarians. (laughs)
