Who says so?
While pure spirituality deals with abstract understanding of true self, the religion diluted the very spirit of it and tried to translate it into easily accpetable, logically understandable practices. Why? Because the essence of spirituality is beyond the logical understanding.. the whole experience is beyond mind, logic does not rule the world on supreme consciousness or God. All absurdities are possible there but human mind is unable to conceive that. He still tries to reach that experience through simple mathematical formulae like 1+1=2.. it is actually not possible. The experience of God is beyond your logical understanding hence the difficulty and such a low success rate.. not because it is extremely difficult to realize God but because it is extremely difficult to drop the simple logic and mathematics we have learnt.
Religion in their attempt to simplify the path for all and also to support the social structure try giving your ceremonies and concepts to convince you that if not today then you will sure reach there tomorrow. And there is no tomorrow in the Kingdom of God. It is all in present. Tomorrow is the hope of a conditioned mind.. the cunning mind. It is that poisonuos concept which eats up your today for that tomorrow which yet again comes as today to make you behave in the pattern you have always been facing “today” i.e. hoping to get it tomorrow.
Kamini, The concept of good and bad.. is valid for this plane but when your understanding is able to pierce through this virtual reality then only you can defy the laws given by your priests, pandits and holy books. When you feel you have committed a sin do you really want punishment? Even a child will not want that.. why do you look forward to getting punished. And worse.. you are thinking punishing yourseld through penance. This is probably a concept of a priest which is driving you. Beware!
All the commentaries and commentators, preachers and religious teachers of virtually every religion have been cunningly postponing your happinees. Hinduism is no exception. Christianity is the zenith of such postponement. Their messiah suffered in the hands of jews while he was alive and then some of those guilt ridden jews became first christians. They had seen him suffering in this life while he claimed to be son of god.. how could they iamagine a better life for themselves. They glorified volunteering in pain and sufferings for better life after death. While their messiah, Joshua the shephered preferred to leave the country of barbarians and uneducated to settle far away in the east his people created Christianity. His absence from the scene allowed those people behind him to completely misunderstand his teachings and concepts. He would have been yet again praying to God to forgive them for what they were doing. I wonder if he could resurrect once then why did he not come back again.. probably he became hopeless. The people created a suffering laden philosophy out of his teachings where all through his life a believer has to pay the debts he owes towards the Jesus.. after all Jesus died for them. A ridiculuous concept but it got easily accepted as people were already feeling they have committed a sin. The beautiful phenomenon called Jesus got contaminated in so called Christianity. Most of them through rigorous preaching were made to believe.. there is only one God and of course only one son of God, The Jesus. Thus the christians are postponing their happiness or at least the creme-de-la-creme part of their earnings out of their sufferings for the judgement day.
Islam is no better and even Hinduism got corrupted to some extent in commentaries to make spirituality a household phenomenon. All sorts of nonsense in the name of pleasing Gods were introduced.. and why someone should please Gods anyways? Why should people renounce and suffer? Because the efforts to make the present are arduous.. himalayan task. The easy way is postpone it.. assure of fortunes in next life. The unending dances of most beautiful maidens in the heaven.
Christianity is bit more advanced in postponing the happiness in comparison to Hinduism.. they have to wait till the final day.. The Judgement day. Hindus are allowed to reap the partial if not all benefits of their penance in this life as well but yes there is a trick.. they need to suffer in order to get rid of their bad karmas. Easy bargain.. and people easily accept it.
Kamini, it is good that you question it. This is first step towards growth. But if by any means you are asking this thinking I would give second the concept of penance for joys of tomorrow I am telling you that I will not. These concepts have kept your happiness at bay for your life and do you feel there would be another tomorrow for you to rejoice and relish this life? My answer to your question is No. Only suffering can follow suffering. Only joy can follow joy. If you want to create painfree and joyous series of moments.. do not fall victim to any concept of tomorrow. You have today in your hand.. at your disposal.. try being gentle towards you. The word Tapas has been most misunderstood.. it simply means arriving at deepest understanding so that resolution of your pains is achieved. All Tapas and penance is about hightening your awareness.. All the concepts of starving yourself of food, water and basic amenities is crap. There is nothing which can not be achieved in your airconditioned room which would be available by exposing your delicate body to extreme conditions. Giving pains to your body is crime unto yourself, unto God.. he has given you senses to understand and stay away from what is not pleasant to you.. and you must respect.
The only way I see bliss can manifest in anyone’s life is in not postponing it for tomorrow. And mind you bliss is beyond pain and happiness… but definitely achievable.
Rejoice, love.. dance and be full of gtatitude towards him.. today!
Don’t have reasons? Don’t worry.. just do so.. you will have plenty.
Enough for today?
