Sagarika, I have heard..
Moses was actually a business man, always thinking about how can he get more.. how can he make more out of small money he had. He would always enter into bargains with the merchants and would ask for discounts. He was a great negotiator and was always successful in obtaining bountiful materials in lesser money. He used to pray daily.. just like any other business man asking god to increase his assets, his money and his possesions. God is always very merciful on such people. He keeps giving them what they want just for two minutes of prayers every morning and evening. And sometimes so much so that even if one visits his temples once a year and offers him few kilograms of sweets and a garland. (Smiles)
It is said one day God appeared in front of Moses and asked him whether he would be interested in “Commandments”.
Moses asked “How much one will cost me?”
“It is free.” God replied.
“Oh Great!! It is freee.. then give me ten.”
And thus 10 commandments..
And today everyone is behaving like moses.. they want commandments and there are plenty of Gods roaming around; giving seminars, arranging special conferences and camps who say “It is free” And then all such people flock around and finally take away ten.
Sagarika, spirituality is not the flower. It is its fragrance. To be spiritual means attain flowering.. the fragrance will always follow. And the real source of fragrance is in you. Now I can not give you ways to become spiritual. It would be borrowed and very superficial.. real spirituality is about sucking the smelly, sticky manure through your roots and converting that into fragrance. And beauty of this whole process is: The spirituality has no face. It has no fixed pattern. It has nothing to do with what a person does or look like. It is not about whether he eats something special or walks in a special way. The examples have been in the history itself: Kabir was a weaver and shopkeeper. His spirituality was the fragrance of his enlightenment which emnated in his expression of honesty..
I have heard when Kabir used to go in the weekly markets to sell his hand made cloths and someone would come and ask him the rate he would reply “Do aane ka soot aur ek aane ki Kabir ki mehnat..” You may call it spirituality but I can not. Since can easily copy this behaviour and thus develop an extrmely wrong and baseless feeling of being spiritual. Kabir’s behaviour, his spirituality is outcome of his divine experience.. unlike someone else’s who is behaving in a particular way to become spiritual.
Now if today you see someone roaming around naked.. you will start dialling 100 here in India and 911 is you happen to be in USA. But if you ask a Jaini.. he will say it is spiritual. Although he himself will not accpet anyone roaming on the street naked unless the person who has no cloths on his body proclaims himself to be a Jain Muni. These Munis are imitating Mahavira and his spirituality. They feel remove your cloths and you can become spiritual. There have been tens of thousands of Munis so far.. living in Jain Monastries, have anyone even equalled Mahavira till date, 2500 years is long time.. No Mahavira has been produced.
People have been copying Gautam Siddhartha.. millions of people have run away from their homes in the darkness of night, leaving behind their grieving families but how many Buddhas, such maniac behaviour has produced so far? None even one more??
Spirituality is outcome.. it is not a lifestyle. And today people have this feeling of being spiritual if they organize a Mata Jagaran once a year, Visit Shirdi twice a month, Do Sudarshan Kriya every day.. Donate 5% of their illegal income at Balaji trust without writing their names on the envelop. And good they don’t write their names.. They can not be sure whether God gets happy with them on their chaity but surely IT department Officials would be happy. (laughs)
Spiritualy is not in commandments. Spirituality is not in advice. Spirituality is not in lifestyle. The most spiritual people who have happened so far in human race would not have even heard this word. Buddha, Mahavira may have heard word “Dhamma” or “Dharma” but I doubt if they knew something like spirituality they were carrying with their persona… nonetheless they did. Whatever the word be – A person who has experienced the divine. Even gotten a glimpse of it starts behaving in a peculiar way.. a way which even he couldn’t imagine he would. And behaviour is something which is on the peripheri.. the source is within.
Have you seen colored light bulbs.. The Filament within emitts pure white light but it is the color of the glass surrounding the filament which makes the light be of a certain color. And just like this bulb.. each human being has a color to emit.. a way in which he expresses his joy of being in constant bliss. Each one has a particular unique way of expressing that unlimited pleasure through his constant intercourse with the divine. And that is why.. there has been one Krishna, One Zarathustra, One Mahavira, One Jiddu Krishnamurti, One Nanak Dev… But we don’t question Why?
If you want to lead a spiritual life.. try to find out first who are you. If you ask me I will say – “I will give you few more questions.. real authentic questions. When you solve that you have a chance.. I will give you methods to go in there. Commandments dont help. There are no highways to the kingdom of God.. it always about making your own road. I can give you tools. And The celebration of yours will also be all ours.. no such other celebration has happened as yet. This will be most beautiful celebrations of all..
God is waiting within.. eager to embrace you.. ready to dance with you.. to unite with you and he keeps asking.. when will you come.. when will you come?
Have you heard his calling.. Are you coming?
